My latest memetic influence
Over the last 24 hours I got to spend some time with my company's Chief Operating Officer. This is a powerful man with incredible intelligence, passion, and leadership presence. I picked up a very important meme from him...GROW OR DIE.
This is a very simple idea, and one that is easy to overlook. But, very profound and full of lessons.
Think about it...everything in this world follows a life cycle...birth, growth, maturity, decline, and death.
Where are "you" in this cycle...how does this apply to your physical body, your mind, your knowledge, your beliefs, your personality, your personal effectiveness, your power in the world, etc?
Are you sliding sideways...sliding downhill...or making the climb upward? Are you growing? If not, then you are dying...we only truly live when we GROW.
Think about this...think about the last time you learned something, or struggled with something, or overcame a problem, or even FAILED to overcome a problem? How did you feel? Did you feel alive?
What about a recent time where you fell into a habit of repeating the same dead patterns...thinking the same dead thoughts...putting up with the same old bullshit...just being lazy? How did you feel? Less than alive? Did you feel vibrant and full of life, or did you feel dead inside?
Much to ponder here...

Re: My latest memetic influence
Overall, this thread hits me pretty hard. I've been struggling with Jabba Gecko and the recent turn that's occurred at work.
(of which I will post in a few days)

Oh dear - now in my 55th year - I like to think that I am sometimes still growing, sometimes mature (but not always), but fighting decline like fuck. Mostly, though, it's just survival.
One day I woke up and thought - shit - if I haven't done it yet, I'd better get on with it - you never know how much time you have left.
